University of Cambridge - For Undergraduate Students

This exciting two-week academic summer programme will give ambitious students the extraordinary opportunity to experience Cambridge academic life in the context of a programme specifically designed for high-achieving university students. Founded in 1869, Girton is a vibrant community of scholars, from all walks of life, united in their passion for learning. The College’s beautiful buildings, excellent facilities and spacious grounds are located just outside the city centre, and Girton is well known for its relaxed and friendly atmosphere – the perfect place in which to meet like-minded students from around the world.​

Attending a Girton Summer Programme gives students from around the world the incredible opportunity to experience living, studying and socialising in a Cambridge College.

Accomodation

Students will live in Cambridge student accommodation on the main Girton College site. All rooms are single occupancy study bedrooms with shared bathroom facilities.

Social Activities

Cambridge students will act as Student Ambassadors (SAs) throughout the summer programme. The SAs will organise social activities on afternoons and evenings to ensure students make the most of their Cambridge experience. SA-organised activities may include: 

  • Sports​

  • A trip to a traditional pub​

  • Visits to other Cambridge colleges​

  • Punting on the River Cam​

  • A visit to the famous King’s College Chapel​

  • A walk along the River Cam to take tea at The Orchard Tea Room at Grantchester​

  • Visits to the Fitzwilliam museum and the University Botanic Garden.​

London & Oxford

This Summer Programme also includes day trips to London and Oxford. In London students will be able to see many of the major sights, including the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace, and will be offered the opportunity to take part in walking tours with the SAs and to visit some of the major art collections or museums, such as the National Gallery, the British Museum, or the Tate Modern. In Oxford, students will explore another of the UK’s famous university cities, with sights that include the Bridge of Sighs, the Sheldonian Theatre, and the Bodleian Library. ​

Independent Travel

On the weekends students will have free time and so they may either choose to make the most of the activities on offer in Cambridge, or to travel independently. Summer students in Cambridge often take advantage of their time here to visit other notable places around the UK, such as Bath, Brighton, Stonehenge, and Edinburgh. ​

Afternoon Tea

During the programme students will experience a traditional English Afternoon Tea, with sandwiches, cakes, scones and jam, and tea and coffee.​

College Fecilities

Students will have access to all the usual College facilities, including the bar, indoor swimming pool, cardio gym, library, and chapel, and are also free to explore the woodland, orchard, gardens, lawns and sports fields.

Course Fees

Inclusions 

  • The academic course, comprising a minimum of
    45 hours of contact time​

  • A series of evening talks​

  • Accommodation in a single occupancy study bedroom on the main College site​

  • Approximately two meals per day in Cambridge​

  • A welcome tea, two Formal Dinners, and
    an English Afternoon Tea​

  • Access to College facilities​

  • Student Ambassador-organised social programme,
    including a free punting trip. ​

  • Day trips to London and Oxford​

Exclusions 

  • International travel and medical insurance​

  • Travel to/from their home to Girton College, Cambridge​

  • Travel within Cambridge​

  • Approximately one meal per day while in Cambridge​

  • Meals and any activity fees while on the London and Oxford day trips​

  • Any social activities, personal expenditure, or independent travel.​

Cancellation & Refund Policy

If an applicant must cancel their place on the summer programme, the

following refunds shall be offered:​

  • A full refund (excluding the non-refundable deposit), if the place is cancelled by 14 April 2025.​

  • A 50% refund (excluding the non-refundable deposit), if the place is cancelled by 28 April 2025.​

  • A 25% refund (excluding the non-refundable deposit), if the place is cancelled by 12 May 2025.​

  • After 12 May 2025, no refund shall be made.

Please note that any refunds will be made in British Pounds Sterling (GBP), so the amount received in a student’s home currency may be different to what the student originally paid, depending on the current exchange rate at the time the refund is made.

Participants must complete an Expression of Interest (EOI) form themselves. During this step, our team conducts a basic evaluation of the student’s profile and performs any necessary due diligence checks. Click here to finish the setup

Both the student and their guardians participate in a telephonic interview.
This step provides detailed information about the programme, addresses any questions, and allows further evaluation of the student’s profile.

A standard No Objection Certificate (NOC) must be submitted, signed by both the guardian and the school authority, to confirm approval for the student’s participation.

Once registration is confirmed from our end, the full programme fee must be paid to secure the student’s place in the summer camp.

The Visa application process begins in the first week of April and typically takes 4–5 weeks.

Once the Visa is approved, group flight bookings are finalized by the end of April.

All participants and their guardians are required to attend a pre-programme induction session two weeks before the travel date. This provides an overview of daily activities, essential items to pack, and travel guidelines.
